Illness and PsA

Everyone gets sick, right?

Another member of the forum here had mentioned that they had a flare-up and it had happened around the same time for 2 years running.

Can sickness and germs lead to flares?

Lying awake due to some pain related to my own PsA. It got me thinking just how much any sort of infection/sickness or even germs/bacteria could actually have to do with flare-ups. It was mentioned that it happened around the festive period, a time when physical human contact is more often found, be it a handshake or a hug, etc with friends or colleagues. Could this be why? Do we need to be more careful? Ensuring we keep to a high standard of hygiene to limit the amount of sickness, if possible, to lower the severity or even the amount of flare-ups that we endure? Could a bottle of hand sanitizer and frequent washing of hands be a good prevention method?

I currently work in construction. It's a physical job and I do struggle at times but it's also an unsanitary environment. Could this be why I'm struggling more after over 2 months off and feeling better to the point I was being more active and having to deal with the pain less often?

Getting sick more often with PsA

It could be a coincidence but then again it could be so simple to bring down the number of flare-ups. I rarely got sick before I was diagnosed with PsA. Now on methotrexate injections, I seem to get sick more often and it seems to hit me a lot harder.
