Long and winding road

I was diagnosed with psoriasis in my teens, though I had lesions as a young child. I developed significant pain and fatigue in my early 30s and made my own diagnosis. Treatment in the 90s was limited to prednisone and methotrexate. When biologics became available, I did not have health insurance, so it was 5 years before I started Humira.

Unfortunately, biologics stop being effective after 4 – 5 years and I have to change. We all know what a hassle that is with insurance! Despite treatment, I have enthesitis, plantar fascitis, hand pain, and fatigue for the past 30 years. But, I continue to exercise daily and am grateful for whatever reduction in symptoms the medications provide. I find my attitude makes a difference in my quality of life!
