Frustration
I was 50. I remember the day it started. My knees hurt. I kept thinking it would get better, but it just got worse.
Dismissive doctors
I went to the doctor she said mild arthritis. The pain was not mild. I went to a rheumatologist. He said take a hot bath and get a cane. Also lose weight. I was very active at that time, walking 3 to 4 miles daily, struggling with my weight. Then my wrist, thumb, top of my foot, ankle started hurting to the point I couldn't sleep or drive the car.
Went to another rheumatologist, he took one look at me and said lose weight that is all. Dismissed me. I started crying and he just stood there saying why are you crying. Then left the room. I struggled for another 3 months in pain. Afraid to see another doctor.
Finally getting a PsA diagnosis
Finally went to a female rheumatologist and she diagnosed me. She not only did x-rays, but ultrasounds. She put me on a biologic twice a month injection. This changed my life. The months I spent in pain and depressed caused me to gain weight. Once I was able to get out and walk again, I joined noom and started not only losing weight, but living again, playing with my grand children.
