Theresa’s Journey

One year ago, I received my psoriatic arthritis diagnosis. I’m 62 and thought my life quality was done. I’d wake each morning exhausted with pain in most joints, including my feet, so hobbling around for two hours, loosening up was part of my daily routine. It was a very depressing realization.

Then I began researching the incredible connection between diet and psoriatic disease. This past year has been a momentous wake-up call. By simply changing to a relatively strict anti-inflammatory diet nine months ago, not only have I lost 40 pounds, but my joint pain is greatly reduced from a year ago. I can again walk briskly in relative comfort. I’ve regained strength in my hands and most of my body. My pain level is down considerably and I’ve regained energy. I can actually accomplish tasks that a year ago I thought I could no longer accomplish. All of this with the help of an occasional Aleve.

My mood and mindset have also improved tremendously. Life is great again! I needed this wake-up call to get my health and mind back on track. I’ve learned many things this past year. But one thing stands out – we are all more resilient than we give ourselves credit. And we know our bodies best. So I encourage everyone with psoriatic disease to make some lifestyle changes. You won’t regret it.
