"Newly diagnosed. I spent 13 years with a diagnoses of Parkinson's disease. While my pain increased the Drs failed me miserably. Til one day my finger swelled . I also had a strange rash on finger. Over the years I have suffered from foot and ankle pain. Severe back pain. Knees and elbows too. With waves of a flu like feeling. I've seen Dr after dr. Finally in a very small kentucky town I got my diagnoses. Ok my question. How long does it take for the swelling to go down in fingers? Thank you for letting me share"
@cessy123, sounds like you've really had a long, rough road so far with a whole heaping of pain. I'm sorry you've had to go through all of that. You pose a bit of a difficult question... In my experience, in regards to swelling it can depend on a few different things. If you are on steroids and anti-inflammatory medicines (like Advil) it might go down a little faster. It also depends on what other medications you might be on plus a little luck. Sad to say though, that I have a few toes that have been swollen for over a year. At the same time, I have a finger that the swelling went away after a round of steroids. This is a great question to pose to our community since experiences vary widely. https://psoriatic-arthritis.com/q-and-a/
Also, were you "mistakenly" diagnosed with Parkinson's or do you now have PsA in addition to Parkinson's? I also call the great Bluegrass state my home, small towns here are the best 😀 I hope you get to feeling better soon! -Leanne, Community Team Member
I sometimes have swelling in different joints. At times I have minimal pain and others it is unbearable. It is hard to say when the swelling will go down. The swelling in my toes will rarely go away. But I also think everyone is different. Some days I feel like I have the flu my entire body hurts. And some days I feel pretty great. You just never know with PsA from one day to the next. Good luck.
Hi leanne, I was mistakenly diagnosed for 10 year's. I realized something else was wrong 6 years ago. And I am only now showing outwards signs. Year's of foot pain., back pain, stiffness etc. I'm real glad I signed up here. I actually ran a chat group for people with Parkinson's disease for many Year's. These groups help.
Thank you for your reply..
