Face masks

Masks Are the New Statement Bag

So, here’s the deal, whether we like it or not we are all going to probably need to be wearing masks out and about for a long time. Therefore, we may as well make the most of it and enjoy it.

The risk of the face mask

Think about it, every fashion must have had to start somewhere. Giant statement bags at one time in history were only used for necessity and we’re pretty sure people didn’t want to lug bags around if they didn’t have to. Now men and women alike spend thousands of dollars on just the perfect bag or briefcase.

We covet other people’s Louis Vuitton and the like and view a great bag as the ultimate in status. So, who’s to say masks won’t soon reach the same level.

Embracing the face mask

Designers and leading brands know it. Within mere weeks of the stay home, stay safe orders across the country stylish and themed masks began popping up everywhere. My local art museum just launched a whole line of masks featuring famous works of art ranging from Van Gogh’s Starry Night to Munch’s The Scream (my personal favorite, given the times we’re living in).

There’s even a place called Mask Club where you can subscribe to get new reusable masks delivered on the regular a la a subscription box.

Mark my words, mask fashion is going to be rocking its way down the runways of Paris, Milan, and New York whenever Fashion Week returns. We may as well embrace it starting now and be on point fashionistas.

Masks can be a pain

I know for those who love a good lipstick, masks are really cramping your lip kit style, but for those who enjoy playing up the eyes, this is your dream come true. You can do some killer cat eyes or a great smoldering smoky eye and draw all kinds of compliments.

I know masks also can be a pain when wearing a great pair of sunnies thanks to the fogging up factor, but slowly but surely, we’ll all get used to how best to breathe and rock shades simultaneously soon.

I also know the ear elastic can really be a pain when you first put them on. Well, were the first pair of stilettos or loafers you wore comfortable? Nope, but guess what we wore them anyway because they were fashionable. So, we need to suck it up and wear these masks because not only are they now en vogue, they’re also going to save lives.

Masks & psoriatic disease

Our friends and loved ones with compromised immune systems have been donning them for decades to keep themselves and others safe on airplanes and other germ-heavy settings. They’ve had to endure looks of fear and people avoiding them as well as a severe lack in selection from a style standpoint.

The rest of us are fortunate that we’re having to wear them when you now get looks if you aren’t wearing them and as I mentioned the fashion game is igniting with options.

Wear your mask with pride

Do I believe we’ll never be able to go out with a great Dior lip sans mask again? Of course, that time will come, but it’s not here yet. Right now, lipstick is out, and masks are in. Hopefully, when masks stop being in style, they’ll stay out for far longer than the fanny pack did, but until that time wear your mask with pride.

Order several to go with every outfit. They’re way less expensive than a shoulder bag, you can have as many as you want. Walk tall and carry your head and mask high.
