Psoriatic Arthritis Wins!

Every now and again- probably more often than I’d really like to admit- I need a little boost. I need something to lift me up, especially if I’ve been having a run of “bad” days. It is always a good reminder that there will (hopefully) be better days on the horizon. Sometimes, I just need to remember that this moment, however bad, is temporary. This is where having a bank of psoriatic arthritis wins comes in handy.

Psoriatic arthritis wins

To make myself feel better again, I try and focus on those times when I was able to really live mylife, despite the fact that I have psoriatic arthritis. I love to think of those times when I pushed past my pain and was very happy and proud that I did. For example, the time that I spent hours baking and decorating the “perfect” birthday cake for my daughter. Every single bone in my body ached, but every pain was worth it when I saw the look of sheer delight in my daughter’s eyes. That was a hugePsA win for me.

Celebrate the thrill of victory, no matter how small

Then there was this one time when I actually checked something off my to-do list. Shocking! I know. I make a million and one lists every day (I’m a total list nerd) and there is nothing like that feeling you get when you actually get to check something off of it. Sometimes I even secretly go back and put something on the list that I did, just so I can check it off. Total nerd, I know.

Yes, I’m sure to you it may seem like a little thing, but at that moment, I love the thrill of victory and pride pulsing through my veins. Almost like I’m flipping the bird (even if it is with a slightly crooked and swollen finger) to my PsA. That, my friends, is a PsA win.

Share your psoriatic arthritis wins with the community

Anytime I have these special moments, no matter how big or how small, I like to tuck them away. Sort of like a little deposit in my happy bank for those days when I need an extra little boost for my spirit. Not only that, but for me, your wins are my wins.Your wins show me and everyone else in the community that yes, we can live despite PsA. I love, love, love reading about that time when you were able to clean ALL the marks off your fridge or when you completed an entire load of laundry. You know-washed, dried, folded, AND put it away? That’s the stuff dreams are made of.

Did you make it to work today? How about the fact that you made it through work today? Did you put forth the effort to support someone else in our community today? Did you go outside for some fresh air? Celebrate these wins my friends!

Your wins are my wins too!

These PsA wins make me smile because your wins are my wins. That is how a community works. So go do it! Post those status updates when you are proud of yourself for completing what “everyone else” would consider “normal, everyday things.” Celebrate your PsA wins and share them so we can all benefit from them and celebrate with you! Because we can all use a little pick me up! #PsAWins!
