Hoping 2025 is a Better Psoriatic Arthritis Year

Each year always brings new hope, at least for some of us. For those living with psoriatic arthritis, the dawn of a new year represents a beacon of potential improvements in health and wellbeing. The challenges of managing this condition are numerous, but the evolving landscape of medical advancements offers a glimmer of optimism.

For those who are still seeing the rheumatologist they have been, it might feel like progression is slow. The routine visits, the familiar treatment plans, and the consistent, if not always satisfactory, results can sometimes make it seem as though the light at the end of the tunnel is dim. The advent of 2025 brings with it the opportunity for new treatments, therapies, and hope. One of the most promising developments for me is the chance to finally see a private rheumatologist. This shift can be a game-changer for many reasons.

A new rheumatologist

One of the most exciting prospects of seeing a private rheumatologist is the access to advanced therapies and treatments that have not been available to me so far. A private rheumatologist may have better access to treatments and be more familiar with their interaction with my other medications, potentially offering a more tailored approach to care. The Specialty Clinic I used to have to get treatment from always concentrated more on my psoriasis than my psoriatic arthritis. Having a private rheumatologist means that the role will be reversed now. They will ask about my history of psoriasis, but the attention will be directed to my joints that psoriatic arthritis has damaged or could potentially damage.

As we step into 2025, the hope for a better year with less pain caused by psoriatic arthritis is palpable. The opportunity to see a private dermatologist brings with it the promise of more specialized care, access to advanced treatments, and a holistic approach to managing the disease. Coupled with ongoing research and the potential for innovative therapies, the future looks brighter battling this challenging condition.

Patience while I wait

As of this writing, I have not gotten an appointment yet. A referral has been sent to a network insurance rheumatologist. I do know that those appointments can take a long time. However, my primary doctor did give me the information as to who he is referring me to, the clinic’s location and the phone number to that clinic. Most times those referrals are done with no information given to the patient. I do believe that this is my first time ever getting that information. He told me to give them some time and if they did not call me to call them to get the appointment. I just need to have patience and keep reminding myself it will be worth it hopefully.

This or That

Have you ever changed your PsA treatment?

While the journey with psoriatic arthritis may be fraught with difficulties, the progress and possibilities on the horizon offer renewed hope. 2025 has the potential to be a transformative year for myself living with psoriatic arthritis. Hope for a better tomorrow is one of the few things we can hold onto. Each day living with this disease brings me awareness that even the littlest of things like a new rheumatologist is something to be excited about.

My hope is that the new appointment comes quickly and then the right treatment is found just as quickly. One day a cure will come, at least that is what I keep telling myself, but until then seeing a new rheumatologist will have to do.
