What have your experiences been with PsA remission?

Does remission feel like a pipe dream? Have you experienced remission?

  1. Only once for six months on Methotrexate. That was the only time probably 4 years ago. I had so much hope and excitement but short lived. Don't ever give up❤️

    1. , thank you so much for joining the discussion here. I'm sorry to hear that your remission was short-lived. It feels rather cruel and unfair that these medications can help us feel better, only for that to be taken away from us again. How are you doing at the moment? Is there anything that's helping you manage your symptoms? Warmest wishes, -Catherine, Community Moderator

  2. It is frustrating my last biologic, I had terrible side effects. So I am in the process of starting another one

    1. so sorry to hear this but it is a trial and error situation to find a biologic that works for you. How soon before you start the new biologic? Vickie, Team Member

  3. To walk easier, stand and stand up from a sitting position. Feeling more positive and plan something nice. Pain less not free from pain

    1. the above is the times that I am in remission, which happen every now and then for a day or two. I am not in remission now. Walking is better -(had a knee replacement 3 months ago. Due for 2nd one March 25) - although not perfect.

    2. , oh I wish that you were currently experiencing remission now, but I'm crossing my fingers you can feel some of that relief soon. I'm glad to hear that your knee replacement three months ago is moving in the right direction. Are you currently on any treatment for your PsA? -- Warmly, Christine (Team Member)

  4. It has been amazing! Since I started taking Ozempic last December, I have been in remission. I am allergic to all NSAIDS. There wasn't relief for me before Ozempic. This med has changed my life. I am myself again for the first time in YEARS! WOW

    1. I have also lost 80 lbs, and I know that has made a difference, too. HOWEVER it's the relief I've experienced with inflammation that is a direct result of the Ozempic. I DO NOT swell up anymore. My feet used to hurt so bad all the time. All the little tiny bones on the top of my feet just ached and burned all the time. My ankles were always swollen, too. I couldn't even wear shoes sometimes. When I woke up every morning, it felt like my hands were on fire. And there was nothing I could take for the inflammation, being allergic to NSAIDS. My fingers were so swollen I could hardly type. I was miserable. So very miserable I was so close to considering you know what. That's just no way to live. My rheum suggested I try this med as he heard it had been helping people like us. I thought it was a crazy idea, but at that point, I was ready to try anything. I am not exaggerating when I say Ozempic has changed my life. I am actually LIVING for the first time in so very very long. The changes are evident in my blood work, too. My C Reactive was off the charts high for as long as I can remember. It is now in the normal range and has been since about 3 months after starting this program. I am happy again. I will scream it from the mountaintop so everyone can hear me. There is help! There is hope!!! It truly has been a MIRACLE in my life. I would never have believed it. A weight loss medication changing my life with PsA? Crazy! But so very very true. I sure hope word gets out so it helps more people like us. Sending love and healing thoughts to all reading this. Be well. 😀

    2. Wow, , that is amazing!! Thank you so much for sharing your experiences and story of hope with us all. So happy that you're getting the relief you deserve. It's fascinating that Ozempic has made such a difference for you. Did your rheumatologist explain to you how this might be working on the inflammation? It's interesting that you mention this, as a community member over in the https://plaquepsoriasis.com/ Facebook community recently mentioned that they were finding Mounjaro helpful for their PsA symptoms. I know they're different medications but I believe they both work on the GLP-1 receptors (I won't pretend I know what that means!). I was also reading recently that metformin can help with inflammation. So interesting! Thank you again for sharing here. It really helps to hear positive experiences of people finding things that work for them. Do you recall how soon you started to notice an improvement in your symptoms with the Ozempic? I know you mentioned that your CRP came down within about 3 months, was it the same kind of time frame for your symptoms? So happy for you. Congratulations on the weight loss too. An amazing achievement! Warmest wishes, -Catherine, Community Moderator
