New to forum hi everyone

My name is Adam and yes Im exhausted. I have to laugh because f i dont yknow... I have been dealing with undiagnosed PsA since i was about 7 or 8 and was never diagnosed until the other day I am 46 with two young children who are both dislplaying symptoms my boy is 8 and my daughter is 4. My whole life has been run by it. I have never been on a biologic but have had some prednisone and methotrexate once or twice to stop numerous types of flares . I have had a huge list of issues from irritable bowel to tmj psoriaisis fatigue and a few others. I almost went on Humira more than a decade ago but felt it was not worth the risk and it had been on the market for a really short time the warnings on the tv had me scared. The rheum gave me pamphlets for cosentyx and taltz this week. My lab results are in but i havent seen them yet.I have to go back to the doc on the 24th. To be honest im still on the fence about biologics while my condition is severe and debilitating at times i am surviving and i have many days that are good that i just ignore it. Anyway I' m Adam. I am lucky to have a supportive wife and parents.

  1. Hi , and welcome to the community!

Thank you for sharing your story with us all. You must have been through so much with your PsA over the years, especially with having it since such a young age, and being undiagnosed for all those years. How are you feeling now you have the diagnosis?

I'm glad to hear that you have another rheumatology appointment coming up soon. Alongside the pamphlets you were given we do have some information on both Cosentyx and Taltz in the following article: https://psoriatic-arthritis.com/medications/biologics-how-well-works-side-effects/ Feel free to use the search function of the site too - there's quite a few posts from community members on both of these medications.

Definitely be open with your doctor about how you're feeling regarding biologics - it's important that your views are taken into account when looking at ways of managing PsA. I felt the same way about starting methotrexate a couple of years ago. It does feel like a big decision. Please keep us updated if you can. Great to have you here, Adam! -Catherine, Community Moderator
