I found Physical Therapy causd myflare. Has anyone else had this happen?

  1. I've done lots, and lots, and lots of physical therapy in the past ten years, and not once had it contribute, let alone cause, a flare. However, intense physical exercise might exacerbate flares in the affected joints, and if your PT is intense enough, I don't see why it couldn't happen. Still, the most likely scenario is you simply had a flare concurrent with your physical therapy for any other number of reasons.

    1. , so sorry to hear that you're struggling at the moment. I haven't flared due to physical therapy, however I believe this is because I/my physiotherapist heavily modified my PT schedule and exercises. If I had done them to a typical schedule (multiple times per day, every day), I imagine I would have flared. At that time, "simply" getting out of bed was overdoing it. I have also been in the situation where I've been given PT exercises and have not been able to do them at all at the time. As an aside, I have since been able to do them and I have found them helpful. I know this isn't quite the same, but I did want to let you know that you're not alone in struggling with PT. Have you been able to chat with your physiotherapist about this? Perhaps there are some modifications that they can make for you. Warmest wishes, -Catherine, Community Moderator
