Humira

Hello everyone! I have been a part of this website since I was first diagnosed back in 2016. I now take Methotrexate and Humira as part of my treatment plan. I have been off of both medication's for about a month now since I ended up with a bad sinus infection, and had to take an antibiotic.

Methotrexate has been my life saver so far, and I have seen great result's with taking it. I can really tell though when I am not on it because my arthritis and Psoriasis flar bad. Humira I just started so we will see how this goes. So far again as mentioned above I had to stop taking it until I am done with my antibiotics. I will post my results in a few months. Good luck to all.

  1. Hi JuliePost36,

Thank you for sharing. I'm sorry to read that you had to come off of the medication due to an infection, I hope that is clearing up now with the help of the antibiotics! Looking forward to hearing how you are doing with this regimen! Wishing you the very best for relief.

    1. Hello, I was diagnosed with Psoriasis in 2014. After taking Gabapentin 100mg for 3weeks. Six weeks later I was covered from head to toe. I was put on Humira 6months later, developed Psoriatic Arthritis a year later. My dermatologist realized it didn't work for me. Humira made my joints ached. April 25, 2017 I had to have right replaced due worned joint and damage of Psoriasis. I wish you well with Humira.

      1. Wow MzGalant, I am so sorry that that was your experience. Have you been put on anything else for your PsA, or did your Rheumatologist keep you off meds due to that side effect? Thank you for taking the time to share this story with us, we really appreciate it. Best wishes to you,

    2. My Rheumatologist recommended Methotrexate, l choose to wait until I had my hip replacement. I choose in my mind to go into surgery, with no new medication and I was smoke free for six months. For all that I experienced with PSA anything new would have caused my anxiety to skyrocketed lol. I'm still in pain but not excruciating hip pain of two years. Thankful!

      1. Thank you for sharing with us, MzGalant! It sounds like you made some really healthful decisions leading up to your hip replacement surgery, and I'm so glad to hear that your hip pain has been alleviated! Yay!!! Did you end up trying the methotrexate? If so, how did it go? Thinking of you and sending positive wishes your way! -Casey, Psoriatic-Arthritis.com Team

    3. I've had psoriasis all over my body since I was 9 years old. Now I'm 70 and it's mostly just in my hair. Arthritis flares up from time to time so I saw my rheumatologist last week and will get results of blood work on Sept 11, 2017. She recommended methotrexate but I'm afraid to take it because I read there could be nausea, vomiting, loss of hair. Has anyone had these symptoms with this drug? Thanks for your input. Glad to be part of this group.

      1. Hello Casey, I choose not to take Methotrexate as the point. Thanks!
