Going off meds to try to conceive

Hi all. Thanks for this wonderful resource I’ve been reading and lurking since my diagnosis about 2 months ago. Before this whole psa thing took over, my husband and I had been planning to try to conceive starting this April. I’ve been on methotrexate for almost one month and starting to see some positive effects. I know I can’t conceive on this drug and that I need to wait at least 3 months after stopping it, before trying.
I’ve also read that some ppl, after having been on medication for a while can go off and remain symptom-free, sometimes for years.
My thinking is, perhaps it’s wisest to stay on the methotrexate for a while to try to induce that kind of remission, perhaps.
If this doesn’t happen (I know there are no guarantees) I am also concerned about my pain and inflammation increasing during the time I’m waiting to try to conceive, and then when we’re actually trying (sometimes these things take time).
Does anyone have experience with all of this?

Thanks.

  1. Hi . I realize this is a very old post and that you have not been active in the community since. I want to apologize for the lack of response. Sometimes, posts got pushed back on our old platform and were not seen. The new platform is so much better. If you are still with us, I am wonder whether you had success getting off methotrexate to conceive and whether your PsA is still under control. I hope all is well and that you are happy and pain-free. - Lori (Team Member)
