Are these PSA symptoms

I'm not sure if this is related to psoriatic arthritis. There are times when my feet feel too small for my skin, like my skin is shrink wrap. I don't really have any skin issues except for my back. It's not really visible but to the touch it feels like sand under my skin. It can get extremely itchy. I also have lupus among other things. I take care of my husband, a physically disabled Vietnam veteran, who has dementia.

  1. Hi , I'm so glad you've reached out. I am not familiar with the sensation you're describing (although the way you describe it makes it very easy to understand what you're experiencing). Hopefully some of our community members here can share with you if they have similar skin sensations. Have you had a chance to bring this up with your doctor as well? -- Warmly, Christine (Team Member)

    1. I've told him but with no real reaction

      1. Nothing you've laid out seems like PsA. However, since you have lupus, it may well be that is causing those symptoms, particularly if you are enduring a particularly stressful time in your life. Keep at your doctor, get in for an exam and labs to make sure your lupus is under proper management.

        1. I am under unbelievable stress dealing with my both the physical and mental disability of my Vietnam veteran husband.

          1. I am so very sorry to learn about your stressful situation and physical symptoms.

Acute and chronic stress can cause flares.

If you are able to arrange for a bit of respite care for your husband every now and then, this might help. Perhaps you should try to reach out to the VA to see whether they have any day programs that you could take him to. Another suggestion would be to seek a counselor to talk with about this. Seeking professional help can help for those of us that don’t know how to better manage our stress on our own (that was me).

I also get this feeling in the knuckles closest to my finger tips. Sometimes I find it difficult to bend my knuckles as the skin it too tight there. I have found that using a paraffin wax bath can provide a lot of pain relief. They work for feet too.

          2. - I’m a 40yr old Iraq Vet w/ PSA & the arthritis is in almost every major joint & spine at this point. I also have my PTSD issues that my wife deals with. I say all that to tell you this. Reach out to your local VA hospital. They have been such a help to me & my wife! Combat Vets have certain benefits they earned & you simply being his wife and caretaker you are also entitled to them! It wouldnt hurt to see if you can get a nurse to come help especially on days your having your own flair ups! They have been a god send to me!
