Tips and tricks?

Hi everyone! I’m new to the group. I’ve had psoriasis since I was in high school, newly diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis. I want to see what tips you all had for dealing with pain and fatigue. Or anything else you’d like to share with this newby. I’m pretty busy (as we all are) with the kids, work (day care teacher), church, etc. Hope you all are having a great day!

  1. Hello and welcome! Sorry to hear that you've been diagnosed with PsA, it can feel very overwhelming especially at the beginning. For me, ways of dealing with pain and fatigue vary depending on the day. I guess the most important thing I've learned (especially as a mom) is to pace myself. If I try and do too much at one time, then I end up useless for the rest of the day. Do a little, then rest. Knowing when to listen to your body is key. Don't forget to rely on your community and support systems. It is difficult to accept help sometimes, but so worth it to swallow your pride. Here is a great article that will help you get started https://psoriatic-arthritis.com/living-with-psa/

    1. Don't stop moving, don't give up, find what works for you and keep living YOUR life. Learn your triggers, food , stress etc. Learn about foods that are antiinflamatory, lots out there, try ice, and don't expect a cure, but there are lots of things that will help

      1. Those are sage words of experience, ! Very kind of you to offer your support. Did it take you a long time to find your triggers? -Eileen, Psoriatic-Arthritis.com Team

    2. Yes, and even now that I know what my triggers are its hard to always stay away from them. Especially foods. Stress is also one of my triggers , I have had a measure of success with managing that although it means I have to give up trying to advance in my work, I have a position now that allows me to do things I am very comfortable with so I don't stress over things, that's something that's hard for people without arthritis to understand I think, we have to give things up that are very important to us. I am happy, and very blessed, I have days that I don't have such a good outlook , but here's the thing, I have days, I'm still here and I'm still fighting.
