Supplements for reducing joint pain/damage

Are there any supplements anyone here has used that seem to help reduce joint pain/damage? From what I gather, high-quality fish oil and glucosamine sulfate may be helpful, but has anyone found anything else that seems to help? For example, cissus quadrangularis, boswellia serrata, pycnygenol, MSM, and other supplements that probably aren't as well-studied or popularized as say fish oil and glucosamine?

  1. Update: I've been making a concotion of glucosamine, L-glutamine, collagen powder, boswellia serrata, fresh turmeric, and fresh ginger, blending everything together and drinking it twice a day. It's maybe not the reason, but my arthritis pain has improved over the past month or two, and is generally absent or minimal. It could also be partly due to the sulfasalazine, which I started back in October, has become more effective. And it could be dietary--I am mostly eating fish, chicken, bone broth, leafy greens, cruciferous vegetables, dark berries, and a little bit of rice for carbs. The diet has also caused me to lose about twenty pounds, which is probably good for my knees which have degenerative cartilage. It really took getting used to a limited diet, but now that I am it's not too bad. So far it looks like I don't have to move up to methotrexate. Still can't figure out though how to elminate inflammation in warm weather: if it's 75+ degrees outside the knuckles for my left pinkie and middle finger swell a little.

    1. VITAMIN D!!

And CoQ10, and NAC . . . what we have is actually a blood vessel issue (that carries inflammatory cytokines in it, that eat at our joints/tendons/skin/whatever . . . we need to CALM the immune system. This means calming the gut, and ourselves (our brains) getting sleep, walking/mild exercise, happiness,

      And the NO's:

Wheat/ideally most grains Milk (OUT!!) Most meat proteins, esp red meat.

What does anyone say to this?

      1. Forgot to write: ZERO added sugars, ltd sugary fruits.

My biggest problems is knowing what I CAN eat.

(no nightshades, but maybe I should experiement? some seem to be able to eat potatoes - tomatoes to be avoided, too acidic)

      2. Thanks! Sorry for the really late reply. I just ordered some CoQ10, was already trying NAC along with a few other things (boswellia, glucosamine, l-glutamine, colllagen, fish oil, vitamin D, CBD oil).

    2. Forgot to mention: I've also been trying magnesium chloride salt, both as a supplement and for bathing, to see if perhaps a magnesium supplement would help. I can't tell if supplementing has helped, but taking a magnesium bath does relax my muscles a good deal, a feeling comparable to when I once took 150 mg hemp-based CBD oil (which I now avoid doing after having learned that if I take 50+ mg CBD oil it becomes psychoactive for me, despite it dissolving all pain and making my body feel incredibly relaxed and pain-free).

      1. No

        1. we hear you! Not everyone will have to same experience when it comes to supplements (or any medication/treatments, for that matter). You're definitely not alone in finding there haven't been supplements that help reduce your joint pain. Although some people mind find certain alternative treatments/therapies helpful, they certainly don't work for everyone. How are you managing currently? Are you on a treatment plan? Sending you gentle hugs. -- Warmly, Christine (Team Member)
