Pills, pills, pills.......and shots

Ill try to make this post short because i tend to ramble. Do you ever just get tired of taking pills and shots? I take about 20 pills a day and it can be exhausting. I have to use mental reminders or set my alarm on my phone to remind me to medicate. I feel awful without the meds, but sometimes i just get frustrated that i have to take so many.
I have multiple conditions and just about every one of them has a pill or two....or 8. I think i just resent the fact that im ill and am fed up with it. Am i the only one thAt feels this way? Most days im okay, but sometimes i just cant stand it. It gets old after a while. Just wondering if anyone else has this issue?

Thanks all & STAY STRONG (even if it means taking 20 pills /day)

  1. Yes, SO sick and tired of all of the pills - although man I don't take anywhere near as many as you do! Seriously, though, I'm tired of finding pills in my pocket that I forgot to take (brain fog) and then wondering which ones they are (is this the muscle relaxant or the pain pill?)

And then I'm tired of the fact that if I forget to stash extra pills everywhere (like at my mom's, work, etc.) and I need them but don't have them I can expect a day of pain.

    And the shots...I can't even. 😀

    1. I hear ya. Im pretty good about taking them most days and i always have some extra in my purse. On shot day i have to psych myself up just to hit that plunger. Whoever woulda thought we would have to live like this? Im just gald we have the meds, i dont wanna go back to living life without them, no matter how sick of taking them i am!

Best of luck to you Astrid. STAY STRONG!!!

      1. I had best results taking methotrexate, folic acid, and Leflunomide. the Leflunomide made my liver enzymes go to high so doctor took me off them and started Enbrel. Enbrel injections worked well, but the doctor felt the progress was not quick enough, so changed me to Humira. I got worse on Humira, Humira also gave me severe headaches. so now back on Enbrel. So far so good. Inflammation down, but still endure a lot of pain. Hopefully it will alleviate more pain. There are times I contemplate just ditching all the meds, but then I think, how bad would it be without them, even though they seem to not work well. So I endure and keep on keeping on. Thanks for listening.

        1. My condition isn't nearly as severe as yours is so I feel a little silly complaining. I take Humira every two weeks and with the pen injector it's really easy. As for pills I take Gabopentin and remembering to take it three times a day is a bit of a pain but taking it with each of my meals makes it not a huge deal either.

I do get fed up, however. I feel betrayed by my body because it feels as if something if always breaking. When I started Humira 5 weeks ago it should have been a great time for me. A chance to celebrate being pain free and getting back to the gym. But just before I went on Humira I pulled something in my groin, possibly a herniated disc. So I haven't even gotten to fully enjoy the relief Humira is bringing me because of that.

I try and stay active and positive but it's a battle. And some days it feels like my body is winning that battle. Because while I want to embrace good behaviors, I want to get active, it feels like it won't let me. And I hate that.

          1. I feel you on the humira and hoping for everything to go well immediately. I wasn’t drinking enough water, got Covid-19, and a kidney infection after my second dose! I was like c’mon body! But we’re gonna make it. I promise. It’s daunting but we can do it.

          2. Oh, boy! That was a hard-earned lesson, . I hope you recovered fully from both Covid and the infection and that you are now drinking lots of water. Best wishes. - Lori (Team Member)
