Does anyone know about how long side effects last with Enbrel for PsA?

I’m hoping someone can tell me about how long to stick with it! Just started Enbrel five weeks ago. The last three weeks I’ve had an extremely runny nose, going-through-2.5-boxes-of-tissue runny nose. Congestion and sneezing also. It lasts for three days then backs off until the next shot.

I’ve previously been on Humira and we thought maybe it wasn’t working as well so made the switch and I’m starting to regret it!

Would love anyone’s opinions on how long to tolerate a side effect before trying something else. Thanks so much! So glad this community exists!

  1. H ! Unfortunately, cold symptoms are a common side effect of Enbrel. I hope you get some answers from members of the community who have had similar issues. In the meantime, have you talked to your doctor and/or your pharmacist about it? Are you seeing any relief from Enbrel? Your doctor might suggest you hang in there for a little longer, but if you don't experience relief within the first three months, it is time to try something new. Regardless, if you find the sinus symptoms are too much for you, go with your gut and try something different. I hope you get some responses soon! 1. I have to follow up and say the side effects are getting better! I’m hoping Enbrel works for me. I thought it was working well but I’ve been having hip, jaw and knee pain. Good to know it can take 3 months to work!

      1. Hi ! I am glad to hear the side effects are improving. I really hope Enbrel helps you, but know that there are plenty of other medications you can try if it doesn't. Everyone reacts differently to PsA medications, so what helps one person might not help another. It can take a lot of trial and error to find the right treatment plan. Please keep me posted. 1. I’m on Enbrel and only side affect I had was sneezing a lot! Not bad runny nose just sneezing (crazy I know). I was about 3 months before it went away. Good luck!
