Cosentyx/GI upset

I recently upped my dose of Cosentyx. I didn’t have this issue at the regular dose, but now I’m having debilitating nausea + diarrhea. Loperamide doesn’t seem to help. I am taking probiotics + citrucel. GI issues are listed as a complication for people with IBS, which is among my diagnoses. In fact, IBS is listed as a possible contraindication. I’d like to stay on Cosentyx as it’s been the most effective at managing inflammation and pain - has anyone else dealt with GI issues on this drug?

  1. I just stopped cosentyx and had major issues with stomach ulcers while on it. I started stelara last week so we will see how it goes. Seeing a GI in Nov hopefully.

    1. So, yes, IBS/IBD are contraindications, but my MD put me on it anyway. Hyoscyamine helps control GI symptoms. 3 yrs now on Cosentyx and effectiveness is waning. Extreme fatigue now is mostly limited to 48 hrs post injection, and if I have a flare. Flares are less acute (but still debilitating), recovery is quicker. I will probably be ready to move on to the next biologic by the end of the year.

      1. I hope you find some relief! Fatigue can be so debilitating, I feel for ya! I have switched biologics again, and am now on Enbrel which I don’t know enough about yet since Im only on my 3rd week, but it may be an option for you. Good Luck! Stay Strong!

        1. Likewise. 1st week of 4 in a row on Cosentyx, 150mg, then transitioning to once a month. I am having GI issues, very gasy, diarrhea. Literally after everything I eat I am having an upset stomach, strongly moderate. Does this go away in anyone's experience, or for those who have had this symptom, does it tend to be a constant?
