Anyone else experienced one swollen lower limb?

Hi all - am new here so forgive me if I’m not following etiquette.
Having been diagnosed with PsA in just my left knee I had a radio synovectomy - doesn’t seem to have worked. I broke my elbow in an accident and now that’s swelling up to and I’ve lost full movement. After a short flight two months ago my ankles swelled up, one went down the other is still swollen and has joint pain. Now the whole of my lower leg (knee to ankle) is swollen and gets very painful all over - kind of like cramp.
I’m taking 1000mg to 1500mg naproxen plus paracetamol and codeine at night for the pain. Pain varies from manageable and stiff to excruciating. I’ve done lots of internet trawling but can’t find any info on swelling of limbs other than in joints.
My next hospital appointment is end of Jan - just wondering if this is normal or I should make a fuss and contact the hospital?
Anyone out there had this or heard of it???
Thank you 😀

  1. Welcome to the community, !

Gosh, what you are dealing with sounds incredibly painful and uncomfortable. I'm sorry to read that you've been dealing with this swelling and pain for so long.

We're not medical professionals here (so are unable to offer medical advice) and would encourage you to reach out to your doctor regarding this. I think contacting the hospital would be a good idea, even if it's just to get some peace of mind. Hopefully anyone with personal experience with this will stop by and share their story with you.

I do hope you are able to find some relief from this as soon as possible. Keep us updated!

    1. Thank you Cathy. I contacted my GP yesterday and she’s prescribed some steroids so we’ll see!
It was just the swelling outside of the joints that I’d never heard of and wondered if anyone else had had this!
      Merry Christmas 🌲

      1. Ah I do hope that the steroids help, . It sounds awfully uncomfortable. Fingers crossed that they kick in soon!!

Happy Christmas to you and your family 😀

    2. Hi I have had my left knee flare up to the point where I could not step on floor to walk to the point I wanted to cut off matter of speaking but it only lasted 3 days then got back down along with ankles sorry you have to go thru that but I do understand hope it gets better happy new year

      1. Thank you for your replies I’ve not been online for a couple of weeks
The steroids worked a charm and I was pain free and the swelling went down in all my joints for two weeks. Even better I got my energy back and I felt human again for the first time in 3 years. What a joy. Unfortunately my GP would only give me 10 days supply.
I’m back in pain swelling and fatigue land now but seeing a rheumatologist on Thursday so cross fingers he can come up with a plan!
        Thanks again for the support!

        1. How did your appointment go yesterday, ? I just got back from a rheumatology appointment myself!
