Has anyone had to go off meds for back surgery?

Besides my psoriatic arthritis, I have a very bad back. Looks like I need a spinal fusion from L3 to S1. My question is: I have to come off my meds for the surgery...They say 5 days before and 2 weeks after. Sounds scary, being off drugs while my body's under major stress. Meds are Plaquenil(400mg) and Prednisone(5mg).

Anyone have experience or thoughts?
